Greetings. Before we start, I'd like to thank you for accepting the interview request, it is a great honour for me to conduct this conversation.
Much obliged.
What does MEGALITH GRAVE mean to you, what were your aims when launching the project, what are these for now and for the future?
In the beginning MEGALITH GRAVE was created to release my mind from anxiety and depression. Now this abomination portrays the harsh reality and the spiritual torment that we will endure. To expedite these unknown truths will enhance our outlook on life, not this plastic world we live in today. This vision hasn’t changed and still is a straight, narrow path which would be difficult to travel but not hard to follow.
Cursed In Ethereal Elapse was release of 2016 for me. Please tell us about its making, and about the years following the release of Emissions From Lifeless End.
EMISSIONS FROM LIFELESS END was recorded in the year of MMXII. This was an emotional release for myself since I was diagnosed with cancer at the time and I still thank Gorge and BLACK GANGRENE for understanding its value.
Following, I contemplated on ending this project but an old comrade, MAELSTROM from ANGELCIDE convinced me to continue. The outcome was five other releases and in the meantime, I had written and recorded a split 7” with AZATHOTH with his repulsive ENTSETZLICH.
CURSED IN ETHEREAL ELAPSE demo was bitter anger and affliction. I still find it possible that I have captured pure anguish in that release.
What were the artistic and intellectual (metaphysical) inspirations for making a split record with FUNERARY TEMPLE (Forbidden Formulations...)? Was it a conscious effort to unite the two bands?
MEGALITH GRAVE and FUNERARY TEMPLE ( HORVATH, NECROPRIEST ) share the same views as to what is portrayed in life, death, time and space. We decided to combine our work to create these similar but unique visions from the beginning and that’s how FORBIDDEN FORMULATIONS QUENCHED IN EMBITTERED ANGUISH was created.
Most of your releases carry a kind of natural self-conscious fighting mood regarding the concept of music and the general artistic attitude. Is it important for the productions to communicate and to have a message beyond music?
I don’t see a reason. People should not be manipulated in my thoughts or beliefs. The world is already infested with thoughtless sheep that are worthless to myself being and I have no desire to inform them what they should already know. The message that’s expressed is the internal struggle from beyond. The torment these natural and spiritual worlds can plague upon the mind. The music is intended to enhance these emotions.
MEGALITH GRAVE specialises in limited editions. Why?
Black Metal is not for everyone. Even though we have the internet to access anything we desire nowadays makes it naught. I keep the flame burning and not to welcome any bottom dweller scum who wants to change the traditional Black Metal sound.
Hatework recently put out ' Beyond Morbid Fascinations Of Cryptic Spirits ' a truly noteworthy and powerful collaboration with ENTSETZLICH. Please tell us about it.
This was briefly mentioned above. AZATHOTH and I have been talking about this for a good length of time about a split and an opportunity came up when HATEWORK PROPAGANDA offered to release this on a 7”. Being that this is ENSETZLICH’s first 7” release, we couldn’t pass it up.
A split cassette with ORGY OF CARRION has just been released, what are your thoughts on this collaboration?
All of the releases I have done were for a purpose (Demos, splits, etc.) and they have never disappointed. We both seemed to complement eachother and this was another acception. This captured the sound what MEGALITH GRAVE strives for. I was very proud of this release form both sides.
Another remarkable effort is the Forbidden Worship cassette from FORSAKEN BURIAL. Please say a few words about it, too.
The FORBIDDEN WORSHIP is a compilation of two prior demos (CONJURATION RITUAL SPELLS and OCCULTATION) that was released by SVART HAT PRODUCTIONS. This project is now dead and the reasoning for this compilation to be made.
Do you follow the current trends in music, are there any up-and-coming bands to watch out for?
FUNERARY TEMPLE, NIHIL INVOCATION, ORGY OF CARRION, VOYEUR’S BLOOD, LAMPIR, GORMANUDR, FUNERAL ALTAR, GHAISIUAN, SANGUINE RELIC, etc.
To keep traditions alive and uncontaminated is vital in my opinion on all stages, including the physical and the spirituals levels as well. If translated to the language of music, how would you sum up the essence of the creative process?
It’s rather to project yourself at that particular moment in stained time is how I entrap myself in the flow of the song. The minimalism and rawness need to entwine evenly for these emissions to formulate in your subconscious properly.
What role does MEGALITH GRAVE play in your life currently?
I have realized that MEGALITH GRAVE has always been apart of me since the time I was old enough to question life, death and existence. Even though it was created in the year MMXI, it has manifested in me for most of my life. I wouldn’t be alive today if this outlook was never created. Black Metal is very important to me.
Thank you for the interview!
My pleasure. Till the end of eternity...
